A final leg of World Cup preparation is underway for India and South Africa

South Africa is touring India just four months after their last trip, but Wednesday marks the start of each team’s final World Cup preparation week. It’s interesting to note that a lot has changed since they last played each other in June.

With Virat Kohli returning to the top of the order, despite his strike rate needing improvement; Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh are contenders for the third pacer option, both of whom could shine in the South Africa fixtures, as the management’s preference of Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant also begins to take shape.

In the last 12 months, South Africa have won 13 of their 18 T20Is. South Africa won two series in England and Ireland after sharing the honours in the five matches against India in June, finding consistent top-order riches in both series. As of Wednesday, they will have to decide who replaces Temba Bavuma, their regular skipper who was overlooked by all six franchises at the inaugural SA20 auction.
